Sergine André (alias 'Djinn') was born in 1969 in VerreSes, Haiti. She has lived and worked in Brussels since 2010. In 1997, she pursued technical and artistic training at the Ottawa School of Arts and won a prize at the French Institute followed by an invitation to the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 2006, she attended an artistic residency at the 'Bag Factory' in South Africa, and in 2011 she represented Haiti at the 54th Biennale in Venice. Her work has been shown in North America (New York City, Miami, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, and Montreal), in Caribbean Haiti, Martinique, and the Dominican Republic) as well as across Europe (Paris, Berlin, Venice, Brussels, Lyon, Luxembourg) and in Africa (Johannesburg).
